Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department News

Las Vegas, July 21, 2022 – The LVMPD Citizens’ Police Academy graduated its first class of 2022 on Thursday evening. The Ceremony took place at the Jerry Keller Training Center of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and recognized 27 outstanding citizens for their achievement. One of those students was Antonio Accornero, who, as a longtime supporter of the LVMPD, was humbled by the experience. “I’ve always appreciated what police officers do to protect us and our families, but going through this program has given me a deeper respect for the sacrifices they make every day,” said Accornero. “I’m happy to now have a much closer connection to the Police Department.”
Specially selected Las Vegas residents took part in the Academy’s 12-week program, undergoing the same classroom and interactive instruction that police recruits and officers receive. Classes included:

• Metro Organization and Culture
• Fraud/Identity Theft
• Crime Prevention Overview
• Use of Force
• Sexual Assault Awareness/Prevention
