LVMPD Foundation News
Las Vegas, September 14, 2024 – The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that raises funds to support and supplement Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department programs and initiatives. Established in 1999, the Foundation was created to support LVMPD area commands, special units, equipment, training, and hundreds of community engagement programs and initiatives and crime prevention events that build relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve.
The LVMPD Foundation could not function without its Board of Directors, who are recognized each year for their leadership support and commitment to law enforcement. This year, at the 7th Annual Lunch with the Sheriff, Antonio Accornero – a prestigious 100 Club Member – was once again recognized for his ongoing support of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and personally acknowledged by Sheriff McMahill for his contributions to the Department. “It’s an honor to be recognized by LVMPD, especially by my good friend, the Sheriff,” said Accornero, “and now as a Board Member of the LVMPD Foundation, I am able to devote even more time to the Department.”
Earlier in the year, Accornero joined the Board of Directors of the LVMPD Foundation, bringing a wealth of experience and a steadfast commitment to advancing the mission of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. His extensive business acumen and unwavering dedication to community betterment make him valuable to the Foundation’s leadership. The organization’s mission is to support Metro through investments in training, technology and equipment, health and wellness, and community engagement. Sheriff McMahill is steadfast in his goal of utilizing the latest technology to “make the LVMPD the most technologically advanced police department in the country.”
The role of the LVMPD Foundation, as well as public awareness initiatives such as the Lunch with the Sheriff event, are beneficial in strengthening relationships between the LVMPD and the community. Community engagement is also essential in continuing impactful programs across the County that help keep roads safer, keep residents informed and alert, and reduce crime.
