Benefitting Community Businesses and Neighborhoods
Las Vegas, September 26, 2023 – In an effort to strengthen police-community collaboration to combat crime, Las Vegas entrepreneur Antonio Accornero met with two Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Captains on Tuesday to continue the discussion about starting a new community initiative. Captain Geiger of the Spring Valley Area Command and Captain LePore of the Summerlin Area Command had lunch with Accornero at his restaurant, Siena Italian Authentic Trattoria and Deli, to work out the details of forming a business coalition among community leaders across the Las Vegas Valley.
As a commercial real estate developer and business owner in Las Vegas, Mr. Accornero knows the importance of keeping the city safe for businesses, residents, and visitors alike. Therefore, he is spearheading the formation of a group of fellow business owners and community members who will work hand in hand with the LVMPD to fight crime. The plan is to start in Spring Valley and Summerlin and eventually create coalitions across the entire city. “It’s important for business owners to take action and lead the way,” said Accornero. “We have the resources to make a real difference.”
Mr. Accornero is eager to launch the initiative and calls on any and all business owners to join. In order to create consistency in addressing the needs of the community, his hope is to have regular monthly meetings, and he has graciously offered to host the meetings at his two restaurants: Siena in Summerlin and Chill Bar & Grill in Spring Valley.
Unlike “First Tuesday,” which is a monthly open forum for residents to communicate with police officers who patrol their neighborhoods, citywide business coalitions will take a more proactive – rather than reactive – approach to community policing. Issues to be addressed will include: burglaries, vandalism, graffiti, and homelessness, to name a few. For more information on how to get involved, visit www.lvmpd.com or www.AntonioAccornero.com.
