Las Vegas, October 10, 2024 – The LVMPD Foundation hosted its 4th Annual Ladies Leadership in Law Enforcement Summit Thursday at the Red Rock Casino, Resort & Spa. The yearly event serves to bring together a diverse group of women to share their knowledge, insights, and experiences. In attendance were female officers, supervisors, and community representatives invested in the growth and advancement of women in policing.

This year’s special guest speakers included: Dr. DeRionne Pollard, President of Nevada State University; City of Las Vegas Commissioner Marilyn Kirkpatrick; motivational speaker Tiffany Smith; and professional keynote speaker and author Maureen Zappala. The event has attracted the attention of prominent business leaders like Antonio Accornero, who, once again this year, sponsored a table at the Summit. “It’s vital to promote diversity and inclusion in law enforcement,” said Accornero, “and I am happy to continue my support of the Women of Metro.”

Attendees were inspired to rise in the ranks and were introduced to valuable strategies from industry experts with decades of experience. Key themes were: guidance and support for development, balancing professional commitments with personal life, the future of female police officers, overcoming imposter syndrome, and the importance of mental health awareness. In addition, guests were able to increase their personal and professional networks to reach their goals, as well as access opportunities for success when preparing for promotion. Lastly, one of the most valuable messages of the day was the importance of having a strong mentorship program for female officers.

Over the course of just a few years, the Ladies Leadership in Law Enforcement Summit has grown significantly, with this year’s event garnering a record number of participants. Empowerment of women in law enforcement equals success in the police department, which translates to success in the community. Never underestimate the strength of women!
